How do I become a member?
All families are required to register with LLD. Simply click on Register, fill out the form & submit. You will then be contacted by LLD once we review your application to set up a phone consultation to provide you with all further details & answer any questions.
Once you register, complete your phone consultation & pay the annual membership fee of $300 you can begin scheduling sitters immediately.
At this time families outside of New York City are not required to pay the $300 membership fee.
Do I have to be a member to try LLD?
We recommend all families that reside in New York City become member families to enjoy our community at member rates. It is important to LLD that we get to know our families well & by becoming a member you are joining our community.
We offer a trial with no obligation to the membership fee. The trial is valid for seven (7) consecutive days in New York City.
We do not yet offer memberships in Los Angeles, Chicago, or our Outer Cities.
*Note the family is still required to pay the sitter directly the hourly rate plus cab/gas/train fare home after 9pm in all cities.

How do I book sitters?
To start you’ll need to first Register. This simply provides us with additional information on your family so that we can place you with the perfect sitter match. LLD will contact you shortly after to set up a phone consultation to provide you with all further details.
Once your registration & your phone consultation is complete booking a sitter is as easy as 1, 2, 3!
1. Email LLD at bookings@luckylildarlings.com with your request
2. LLD introduces the family to the sitter candidate with resume, bio & photo for review & approval
3. The family approves & receives an email confirmation with all details
Can I get to know a sitter before booking him/her?
Absolutely! Once we have your registration & speak to you on the phone we will reach out to our troupe of sitters to see who is available for your request.
Once we have a few candidates that match your criteria we will email you their resume, bio & headshot (if requested) to review.
After you review & select who you would like to proceed with we offer a number of ways to get to know him/her even better! We are happy to arrange the following:
1. Phone or Skype/Facetime interview
2. In-person interview
3. Meet & greet between the sitter and the family (note meet & greets are paid hourly)
Is there an hour minimum for each appointment?
No. There is not a minimum appointment duration. However we ask that the family adhere to the number of hours that they request. If you need to adjust the number of hours please contact the sitter/LLD with an update. The sitter should only be paid for working hours. Pay is rounded up to the half hour.
How do I pay my sitter if the babysitting appointment ends of the half hour?
You would pay the sitter half of the hourly amount specified in your appointment confirmation email.
Where is LLD available?
While we anticipate expanding into other cities soon, LLD is currently available in New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Long Island, The Hamptons & Westchester), Los Angeles & Chicago. We also provide our services in select outer cities. For a full list of our locations click here.

How do I pay for the services?
For sitting requests in New York City, Los Angeles & Chicago, member families are charged the hourly rate based on the number of children. The family pays the sitter directly in cash a portion of the rate and the remaining balance owed is charged to the families credit card on file.
All booking charges are already INCLUDED in the rates posted on our website.
For example: if you have one child in New York City our member rate is $21 per hour. You pay the sitter in cash $15 per hour at the end of the appointment and then LLD charges the remaining $6 per hour to your credit card on file.
Can I schedule a babysitting appointment directly with the sitter?
No. You must schedule directly with LLD. You may only confirm a scheduled location, date and/or time with a sitter.
What if my child is sick?
Our protocol with sick children is for the family to contact the City Coordinator & let her know the severity of the sickness. We don’t want to put our sitters in harms way, but understand the lil’ ones need us too. If your child’s sickness seems controlled, we request you provide detailed instruction for the sitter to follow while you are gone. We suggest you & the sitter stay in contact via text while you are gone for updates. We also will contact the sitter prior to make sure she/he is okay with a sick child.
Is it possible to work with the same sitters?
We do our best to keep a consistent structure for your family. Each of our member families has a rotation of sitters. As one sitter may not be available for every request we encourage families on average to meet approx 5 sitters that we go to any time you need a sitter. That way you get to know a handful of great role models for your lil’ ones.
Are all LLD sitters CPR trained?
Yes all LLD sitters have been trained in CPR through Fire Department of New York or through an outside certification course. LLD provides quarterly training to constantly educate our sitters on the latest childcare updates & methods.
Can LLD provide sitters for vacations, travel, overnights & weekend trips?

How do I cancel or reschedule my sitter?
To cancel an appointment please reply all to your confirmation email as soon as you are aware
Please note that cancellations or rescheduling done with less than 24 hours notice are subject to a $50 fee, which will be charged to your credit card on file.
*Only exception to the cancellation charge is in the event of extreme weather where both the sitter and family decide to mutually cancel.
**Cancellations or delays involved with travel will be taken care of per situation by the President.
Am I expected to reimburse my sitter for transportation?
If your sitter stays later than 9:00 p.m., and uses a cab/car service for transportation, the family is expected to provide fare to the sitter to get home safely (maximum $20). If your sitter drives to the appointment, gas compensation and/or tolls are required to be covered (maximum $20).
For appointments that begin prior to 7:00 a.m. on the weekends (Saturday & Sunday) and national holidays the family is required to provide cab/car service fare to the sitter to get to the appointment safely (maximum $20).
Am I expected to reimburse my sitter for meals?
While it is not required for you to reimburse sitters for evening meals, it is always welcomed and appreciated. On vacation, travel & weekend appointments, families will cover the cost for all meals.
If I am looking for a sitter for a single appointment do I need to pay the membership fee?
No. LLD has non-member rates for families that want to try out LLD for a single appointment or are traveling from out of town. More information & rates can be found on our hotel tab.
Do you staff events?
We sure do! Our sitters & staff are ready & able to help with any event! We staff holiday dinners, family reunions, corporate outings, weddings, bridal & baby showers, birthday parties & more! For more info visit our events tab.
Can I interview the sitters myself before booking?
Yes! Finding a great sitter-to-family match is very important to LLD. You are welcome to conduct a no cost phone or in person interview (under 60 minutes) or a paid ‘meet and greet’ before any placement is made.
How does payment work?
An Annual Membership is offered in New York City. The membership fee of $300 is payable in check or via credit card and due after your free 1 week trial. There is currently no membership fee in Los Angeles, Chicago, or our outer cities.
For all family care services, LLD will automatically charge your credit card on file a small booking fee shortly following each appointment. Note this booking fee is INCLUDED in the rates posted on our website.
You will be sent an email confirmation outlining the amount owed directly to the sitter in cash or check upon completion of services.
*Note your credit card will not otherwise be charged without your expressed consent.
If I have a last minute/day-of-request what are the chances that you can fulfill it?
We get requests 2 hours before, 2 months before & sometimes 2 years before. If the request is in the evening or on the weekend the likelihood is very high. Daytime requests require a bit more advanced notice, but they can also be filled on the fly. For requests with less than 24 hours notice email us at info@luckylildarlings.com as soon as you can.
